  • Internet Marketing - Outsourcing
    By Robert Avila on July 6th, 2007 | 1 Comment1 Comment Comments

One of the most valuable lessons I have learned over the past few years is the value of outsourcing.

When you start your Internet marketing business your initial thought is to do everything yourself. This was exactly my belief when I started, besides…who has a ton of cash available to pay others to do work you can do right?

My thought was that I could learn along the way and save money.

    Did I learn? Yes
    Did I save money? NO

Remember…when you are designing a website or writing an ebook for the first time…there is a learning curve - it takes time.

If you can afford to outsource you will have a product to market faster…allowing you to become profitable faster!

Look at the big picture and weigh your options on creating your own product or website.

Sometimes an investment of $500….can save you several $1,000’s perhaps 10’s of thousands of dollars down the road.

Even if you are doing the work yourself yourself….there is a cost associated with your time.

  • How to ship on eBay
By Robert Avila on July 4th, 2007 | No Comments Comments

If you are new to eBay and have questions on shipping….here are a few tips.

You can access the United States Postal Service through eBay or go directly to http://www.usps.com/

As you surf around the site, you will discover the following.

    1. You can order boxes for shipping directly from the post office - FREE!
    2. Here is the link to the USPS shipping calculator: USPS Shipping Calculator
    3. The shipping calculator will walk you through step by step to calculate shipping.
    4. If you start out shipping within the US, choose a few zip codes that are the furthest from your location. This will allow you to plug in zip codes to estimate the furthest point and the highest potential shipping cost.
    5. You can purchase a scale for shipping on eBay. This will not only be convenient, but will also give you an opportunity to build your feedback score and become familiar to the buying and selling process.
    6. As an option to the above you can use eBay shipping calculator that calculates postage based on the bidders own zip code.

You will learn by doing and be surprised at how simple it is and how quickly you will learn.

Also keep in mind to not cut corners on shipping your items. Pack them carefully, and if your item can be shipped in an envelope….but would be safer in a box…..use a box!

    Wish you the best!

  • Internet Marketing - Get Started Today…
By Robert Avila on July 4th, 2007 | No Comments Comments

Sometimes our analytical minds hold us back from succeeding.

You may have had the intentions of starting an online business for several months…maybe even years. What is holding you back?

My guess as to what is holding you back is: Your Thoughts.

Our thoughts can either hold us back or move us forward.

Can you even believe this….here is a good example.

For several months, I postponed selling on eBay….because I didn’t know how to figure out shipping. How ridiculous is that!

If there is something you don’t know…..you can always find the solution on the Internet.

In my case….I went to USPS.com and found the answers.

So don’t get in the way of your own success…..just get started and look for the answers to keep you moving forward.

No matter how small you start….you will be miles ahead of everyone else!

  • Internet Marketing Success
By Robert Avila on May 19th, 2007 | No Comments Comments

    Are “you” really that successful?

I was recently having a business discussion with a very successful friend of mine. We we discussing Internet marketing, business, supply and demand etc.

During our conversation, my friend had made a very powerful statement.

Sometimes success in business is the result of an abundant market, and not a brilliant marketing plan.

A really great example here in Las Vegas is the housing market.

The market was so unbelievable, that people were entering the market as mortgage brokers and Realtors. Everyone was getting into real estate earning incredible incomes. I have heard of many people skyrocketing to $100,000 per year incomes, who are now getting demolished only to see their income go down the tubes.

We are all looking for that lucrative niche market.

Once you find it and have a “success,” don’t allow those amazing results and income cloud your vision. You must always stay on the cutting edge and become the very best at what you do. You must continue building your business.

Back to the real estate example. Those who survived the turn in the market are those that continued to build contacts and become the best of the best in the business.

Make sure you are building an Internet business that lasts a lifetime….and not a house of cards that will eventually come crashing down.

  • Internet Marketing 101
By Robert Avila on April 25th, 2007 | No Comments Comments

When building your Internet marketing business there is one important question to keep in mind.

    How Big Is Your List?

Your answer to this question will reflect just how successful your online business is.

The rule of thumb is that it takes 7 contacts with a potential client before they will make a decision to buy.

If someone visits your site once - the chances are pretty slim that they will purchase what you have to offer. By offering something of value to capture your visitors email address, you can stay in touch and be a valuable resource to them.

When you offer your visitors a reason to come back, you will also increase your chances of earning their business.

It all comes down to being a valuable resource to your visitors - providing them content that can answer their questions and solve the challenges they are facing.
